LOVE LEAVES A MEMORY NO ONE CAN STEAL.

Jay Mullen, 58, of Westchester, Ill., died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 14.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 23, 1957, the son of Ruth McBride Mullen of Charleston and the late Joseph L. Mullen.

Jay spent his formative years in Peoria, Illinois., where he made many lifelong friends. He graduated from West Virginia University, and lived in the Chicago area. In 2001, Jay founded and operated Electrical Maintenance Distributors, Inc. (EMD, Inc.). Throughout his leadership of the EMD business he developed relationships with his customer, vendors and business associates that will last forever.

Jay was a fun-loving and generous person. He lived life to the fullest, and had a smile that could light up a room. He enjoyed playing golf, attending Chicago Bears games and watching the White Sox. He will be missed terribly by his family as well as a large group of loyal friends.

In addition to his mother, Jay is survived by four siblings, Julie Mullen Schmidt and her husband, Tom, of Lancaster, Pa., Beth Mullen and her husband, Rich Folkers, of Garrett Park, Md., Chris Mullen and his wife, Amy, of Charleston and Jeff Mullen and his wife, Catherine, of Charleston. He was a beloved uncle to nine nieces and nephews, Ryan, Kelly, Christina, Emma, Payton, Mills, Claire, Tucker and Matthew.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Charleston, officiated by Monsignor P. Edward Sadie. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Sacred Heart Hospitality room.

A memorial service will be held in Chicago at a later date.
